On Sabbatical

October 1

We left Brewerton and headed across Oneida Lake into the teeth of a southeast wind that piled the waves up on the west end of the lake. I put Sabbatical in the capable "hands" of our autopilot, Wilhelm, and did some work on our mast. After a four hour slog across the lake, we stopped in Sylvan Beach and pumped fuel in and black water out. Fall is beginning to become obvious despite the warm temperatures. Sabbatical ran through a golden carpet of fallen leaves floating on the Erie.
Our evening was spent with a quick walk in the area of the Marcy lock. We enjoyed wine with our "boat buddies" on Sabbatical and turned in for the night early as we planned a 6:15 a.m. start in the morning.
