Wednesday, Sept 6I must admit this was one of the most unusual sailing partners we have had. At one time we had six eager little birds catching bugs for us. The one pictured was giving the captain advice on how to approach Chicago. And was soon rewarded by the captain with a dead fly which was gobbled up quickly. They sailed with us for about 2 hours. Guess they are headed in the same direction as we are.
The mast was stepped today by Crowley's on the Calumet River. Tomorrow we will go back out the river and go up to Chicago which is only 10 miles to our north. We hope to meet family there ( Judy and David Drummond - Gary's sister and brother in law from Texas). They are on their way to Door Co. but will be making the stop in Chicago to see David's brother. We will also be meeting one of Susan's classmates from the University of Michigan who has mail for us. Thank you Kasia.
